Don’t think that the development of Rise of the Tomb Raider will slow them down (the bigger Lara game has reportedly been in the works for 2 years) as they’re working on Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris too. The game will also be top down, but you’ll not want to let that phase you in co-op mode as you’ll apparently be fighting against your fellow players for swathes of shiny loot too which could be a hindrance (or just an annoyance depending on how good you are at collecting treasure) but it could also inject even more franticness into the game as well as providing you with more of a challenge than just ‘killing stuff’. Like the last digital Lara Croft game, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light (which I have also played and can confirm is very good), there will be quite a big emphasis on co-op with four playable characters available this time around.Īmongst the action, Square Enix say that “players must work together to explore the temple, defeat hordes of enemies from the Egyptian underworld, solve devious puzzles, and avoid deadly traps” and if I was a betting woman I’d say that the gang’s individual skillsets and abilities will come into play somewhat, especially with Isis’ history making her the mage/healing type. Thankfully, the Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris announcement trailer was pretty frank about what we could expect. What Will the Gameplay of Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris Be Like? Nonetheless, the drama leads Lara to helping them put Osiris back together again so they can kick Set’s stubborn booty once and for all. There’s a rumour (unconfirmed obviously) that Set poked Horus’ eye out so Horus castrated Set out of retaliation which sounds like a really grim episode of Eastenders if I’ve ever heard one. Not only that but Osiris was a king and a ‘wise leader’ which of course led to Set murdering the poor bloke and chopping him into bits for good measure – joke’s on him though because Isis put the pieces of Osiris back together, bringing him back to life (as the King of the deserving spirits in the underworld), then conceiving Horus with him for good measure.
Based in the deserts of Egypt, Lara, rival treasure hunter Carter Bell and imprisoned gods Horus (the God of War and vengeance) and Isis (the Goddess of motherhood, fertility, magic and protection – she’s also Horus’ mother) are tasked with defeating the evil God of storms, the desert and chaos Set.Īccording to legend, Set, Osiris, Horus and Isis have a bit of a rocky history with Set being jealous of his brother Osiris for marrying Isis. If there are two things that Lara Croft loves getting herself into it’s ‘potentially fatal adventuring’ and ‘supernatural danger’ so of course we can expect Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris to be based entirely around those premises.
